Amsterdam, in the Netherlands (Holland) is another great destination. You’re still likely to have rain any time. The tulips are wonderful in April and May, the sun is out most in summer (especially July and August), and the various other activities are fun in all seasons.
Summer festivals are popular in Europe. These include Redentore, Palio di Siena or L’Ardia di San Costantino in Italy, Salzburg Festival in Germany, Ghent Festival in Belgium, Festival d’Avignon in France, National Eisteddfod in Wales, Helsinki Festival in Finland, and Roskilde Festival in Denmark.
Looking for adventure and thrills? Look no further! The Haute Route in France, established almost a hundred years ago link together two of Europe’s premier mountaineering centers, Chamonix and Zermatt, has been tamed just a little for use as a ski route or high-level mountain hike.
